Day 12 We fixed the fence. It was banged up and stubborn. Hammering together was better than talking; the rhythm soothed us. We drank cold sodas and congratulated each other as if we’d reassembled a missing piece of ourselves.
Of course, no experience is without its challenges and conflicts. There were times when we disagreed on things, when we felt frustrated or annoyed with each other. But we had made a commitment to communicate openly and honestly, and we worked through our issues together. We learned to listen to each other, to empathize, and to find common ground.
