The film follows Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce), an insurance investigator suffering from anterograde amnesia. Following a brutal attack that killed his wife, Leonard can no longer form new memories. He uses a system of Polaroid photographs, handwritten notes, and permanent tattoos to track his progress in finding his wife’s killer.
