The album’s origins are legend among fans. After witnessing the September 11 attacks from the Brooklyn Bridge, Gerard Way decided to leave his career in comics to start a band. Joined by drummer Matt Pelissier, guitarist Ray Toro (who answered a classified ad), and later bassist Mikey Way (Gerard’s younger brother) and rhythm guitarist Frank Iero, MCR quickly wrote and recorded Bullets for just a few thousand dollars.
