For the high-level player, v1.7.9B was a test of patience. The balance shifts introduced in previous patches had settled, but the major "Polish" update was still on the horizon. The "Tainted" characters—the massive hook of Repentance—were still fresh enough that optimal playstyles were being discovered daily. Tainted Isaac’s inventory management felt tighter; Tainted Jacob’s ghost mechanic felt more relentless.
